Mint vs DrakeAI: What Changed and What Got Better

I used Mint for probably four years before it shut down. Been on DrakeAI for a few months. Here's an honest comparison from someone who used both.

The obvious difference is how data gets in. Mint pulled from your bank automatically. DrakeAI you type. This sounds like a big downgrade and honestly going in I thought it would be. In practice it's less annoying than I expected - most days it's 3-4 quick entries. The things I'm logging are the things Mint was always missing anyway: cash, Venmo, coffee when I paid in change.

What Mint did better: net worth view, investment tracking, bill reminders, credit score integration. If those were the things you used Mint for, DrakeAI doesn't cover them. I used them occasionally but not regularly so it wasn't a dealbreaker.

What DrakeAI does better: privacy (nothing connected to any account), no subscription, works in any currency, data is actually complete because I'm entering everything instead of relying on sync. Also doesn't break every couple months and make me spend 20 minutes reconnecting.

The categorization in Mint was honestly about 70% accurate for me. DrakeAI guesses categories too based on what you type and it's similar accuracy, maybe slightly better because the descriptions I type are more specific than a bank transaction name like "SQ*FOOD VENDOR."

If Mint is coming back in some form I'd probably use it again. It's not coming back. For what I actually needed - a record of where my money went each month - DrakeAI does that without the sync complexity. Not the same product. Serves the same basic need for me.
